A couple have been refused planning permission to bulldoze and rebuild their property in the Laleham Conservation Area.
Councillors at Spelthorne Council's planning committee meeting last Wednesday(20) rejected a bid by Mr and Mrs Southwell to redevelop their Abbey Drive home because of the affect it would have on the grade II listed building next door.
PARKING restrictions could be introduced near Laleham Primary School in response to residents' fears that cars parked during the school rush hours will cause an accident.
Complaints from neighbours have prompted Surrey County Council to consider introducing waiting restrictions on parking 'in the vicinity' of the school, on The Broadway.
A reptile survey in Laleham Park that had dog walkers in fear of adder bites has resulted in just one snake being found - a harmless grass snake.
The survey, undertaken by Spelthorne Council as part of its biodiversity plan, sought to ascertain reptiles numbers in the park. It involved placing 'refugia' in the park that would warm in the sun, to attract lizards and snakes, including venomous adders and was part of a larger survey to discover what wildlife was present.
Firefighters were called to a garage fire at a house in Staines Road, Staines at about 1am on the morning of Friday August 15.
Crews were on the scene for an hour as they brought the blaze under control but the garage was empty and no one was injured.
The River Thames will the subject in the lenses of Laleham Camera Club for their next meeting in Staines on Tuesday, August 19 at 7.30pm.
They will be meeting in the Bridge Street car park, adjacent to the Courage building, near Staines Bridge.
Colin Newton, 48, of Charlesbury Crescent, Laleham, is to pedal up to 120 miles a day as he sets off on a mission to cycle from Land's End to John O' Groats.
Colin, pictured outside Snow and Rock in Chertsey which he manages, is hoping to complete the 880 mile distance in eight days from August 23, meaning he must cover as much as 120 miles in a day.
Laleham Camera Club's summer programme for 2008 continues with a visit to Kensal Green Cemetery, London, on Sunday, August 10.
The visit will include a two-hour guided tour of the cemetery. Members will meet under the clock at Waterloo Station at 1pm.
Year 6 pupils from Laleham Church of England School danced the night away at their end of school disco after arriving in style.
Many of the children chose to arrive at the disco, at Laleham Village Hall, in style, including Emily Hale, who arrived in a convertible Ferrari and others who turned up in a big American truck.
