Buckland primary pupils go green
Green-fingered children at Buckland Primary School were busy planting bulbs as part of a Big Green Day on Monday October 20.
The Staines school also hosted a green poetry competition, a school litter pick, a recycled materials art, an eco fashion show and other gardening.
The school in Berryscroft Road won an Eco-schools' silver award last year and wanted to go for gold this year to earn the right to fly a green flag outside the gates.
The initiative was lead by teacher Alison Pearce-Kelly, who said: "Pupils are always encouraged, through the curriculum to consider the environmental impact of their actions and to be involved in activities that will help save our world. The day was a very enjoyable and educational one for the children".
