Children learnt how to plant vegetables and be eco-minded in a Laleham school on Monday September 21.

Buckland Primary School, in Berryscroft Road, held the day, which saw each class manage their own vegetable plot for the first time so they can grow they own produce.

Pupils were also encouraged to bring in a packed lunch to make it a waste free day, as well as being encouraged to walk to school.

Teacher Alison Pearce-Kelly, said: "This year everyone will have their own vegetable plot and we anticipate some healthy inter-class competition to see whose plot is the most productive."

Children were also encouraged to think about the environmental impact of eating imported food, and the importance of eating locally.
