Children from Buckland Primary School in Laleham have been designing posters and creating songs in a campaign to save energy.

The Berryscroft Road school has been participating in a 'Switch off Fortnight' campaign to try and become a sustainable school and to raise awareness on how to save energy.

The school have been given £5,000 from the Dow Chemical Company Ltd to enable the school to purchase a computerised energy monitoring system.

Alison Pearce-Kelly, who helps run the scheme, said: "With the system we are buying we will be able to monitor how we are using energy. We are very excited about its potential to enhance the children's understanding of energy consumption.

"This will have a significant impact on promoting thoughtful use of energy both at school and at home".

The children have also been researching energy saving facts and figures.

We'd like to hear from you.
